Rethinking leadership through a gender lens

I am thrilled that our latest research report 'Rethinking Leadership through a Gender Lens: New ways of working resulting from Covid-19' is now published! The launch event last week supported by Rubica and the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership went incredibly well and I am overwhelmed by the amount of fantastic feedback and amount of attention the report has already received. We had over 850 registrations showing just how important and relevant this topic is.

You can get your free copy of the research report HERE

Here are my 3 things to know this month:

  1. Watch the video of our research launch event. You can now watch the recording of our launch event chaired by Baroness Morrissey DBE, advisory Council Member at the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership, King's College London here. We had an incredible line-up of panellists resulting in a lively debate and so many interesting questions from the audience. I hope it inspires you to take action to move your organisation one step closer to a more gender balanced workplace. Do keep me posted on anything you do and what you achieve as a result!

  2. Equal Pay Day was on 20 November 2020. Equality charity, The Fawcett Society, announced that Equal Pay Day fell on 20 November this year. This is the day in the year when women effectively start to work for free and stop earning relative to men. Despite it being 6 days later this year (although this welcome news does come with a reliability warning given the difficulties in data collection due to Covid-19), it is a day that always shocks me! Let's work together to push back 2021's date even further.

  3. Soft Power Not Superwoman: Why Leaders Need A Well Of Emotional Strength Rather Than Stamina. In this article for Forbes, I speak to Dr Joanna Martin, founder of the global women’s leadership organisation, One Of Many, on how our current ways of working are failing women, and what would happen if we tried leadership in a different way. She shares some great insights into a leadership approach which is centred in compassion for ourselves and others, which as we discussed in the launch event is now even more relevant than ever. Click here to read the full article.

Finally, a reminder to download our research report which outlines nearly 60 practical recommendations for leaders, as well as 5 must-do actions for any organisation at whatever point it is on its ‘gender journey’. We hope the report inspires you to take action to move your organisation one step closer to a more gender balanced workplace. If you’d like support in your journey, I'd love to hear from you
