Resilience and wellbeing: Why should companies prioritise it?

For the second of our new LinkedIn Live Spotlight Series, Joy Burnford was joined by our senior coach and resilience and wellbeing specialist, Katie Seaman, to explore about why resilience and wellbeing is so high on the agenda, the benefits of supporting employees and top tips for companies looking to prioritise wellbeing in the workplace.

Katie’s top five tips for companies looking to prioritise wellbeing in the workplace are:

  1. Prioritise meeting the needs of your employees at work. Meet their needs and you will support their resilience and wellbeing and have a thriving, productive and loyal workforce.

  2. Resilience and Wellbeing Programmes should be considered prevention not cure. Sometimes it is not the right type of support or not the appropriate time, depending on the individual and what they are going through which leads on to...

  3. Ensure your resilience or wellbeing support provider is offering a screening process to ensure they are an appropriate and suitable participant or to direct them to more approprioate forms of support.

  4. Make sure it is not tokenism. It has to be backed up by policies and attitudes that support wellbeing.

  5. Support and education should be top down - bottom up. Individuals need knowledge and tools to support themselves but managers need a common language, understanding and culture that supports wellbeing and to model the behaviours and attitudes.
