Don’t fix women
I'm feeling very happy to have submitted my final book manuscript for 'Don't fix women: The practical path to gender equality at work' to my publisher today, pretty much one year to the day since I started. It won't hit the shelves until this November, but how great it feels to have climbed that writing mountain and be at the top!
Here are my 3 things to know this month:
Davina McCall #menopausematters. Davina was back last night with a new Channel 4 documentary 'Sex, Mind and Menopause'. Alongside some shocking statistics (44% of women said their ability to work has been affected by menopause, and one in 10 women have quit their job due to menopause) it highlighted just how much more support is needed. You can watch it on catch up here and if you want to help women in your organisation, do get in touch to find out more about my Menopause Hub group coaching programme. I've seen first-hand how workplace support can be a game-changer for many women, with one recent participant from Travis Perkins plc saying "This group coaching was eye opening and really beneficial. I can already see a difference in how it is helping me at work from the things I have learnt."
Voting closes in 7 days for this year's Rising Star Awards! I have been busy reading lots of incredibly inspiring nominations as a judge for WeAreTheCity's Rising Star Awards this year. We have chosen a shortlist of ten women from each industry category which is now open to a public vote. You can check out the profiles of 200 remarkable women and show your support for this year's shortlist by voting here. You have until 10th May!
Deloitte Women @ Work Report 2022. Deloitte's latest report has found that many women still face challenges at work that are impacting their wellbeing, engagement and career progression. The research on wellbeing is particularly relevant for companies moving health and wellbeing to the top of the agenda. You can download the full report here to learn more about why many women are considering leaving their employer and what businesses can do to change this.
Finally, I was delighted to be on the other side of a podcast in celebration of International Women's Day last month as a guest on X4 Group's first Diversity Matters podcast. We chat about gender equality in the workplace and how businesses can support women's career development. X4 Group has kindly allowed me to share the episode with you, so to hear more and get a sneak-preview of the topics covered in my book you can listen to it here.
Do get in touch to share your thoughts on any of these topics, I'd love to hear from you.
Until next time,
Joy
