Women count

I hope you're enjoying the start of the summer, it's good to see the sun again today. I'm back from a few days in Cornwall, making the most of family time, seeing friends and new places, and taking the opportunity to slow down and recharge. I even went in the sea! Sometimes it just takes a break to make you realise how important free time can be.

On that note, today's new podcast is all about 'How to stay motivated' and I'm delighted to be joined by my good friend and peer mentor, Tamara Gillan. She is the founder of The WealthiHer Network and Cherry London, and a single mother who has had to fight for her own success. She talks to me about the importance of taking breaks, taking stock, celebrating success and taking time to reflect. Add it to your summer listening here.

Here are my other 3 things to know from July:

  1. The Women Count 2021 report. A new report published by The Pipeline reveals that the number of women in senior roles at FTSE 350 companies will lag behind men until 2036, after the pandemic pushed the prospect of gender parity in the boardroom back by four years. It really highlights the need for organisations to take action and I'll be speaking to several CEO's in the coming weeks for their views on what works, and what doesn't, for my book 'Don't Fix Women'.

  2. #BuildBackFairer. A coalition of feminist charities, including The Fawcett Society, has called on the government to tackle gender inequalities, build back fairer and come out of the pandemic with a stronger and fairer society for all. I highly recommend reading the joint report, including the 10 key priority areas to be addressed, here.

  3. How to boost your visibility at work. Earlier this month, I was joined by one of our expert coaches, Stephanie Aitken, for a podcast on becoming more visible at work. She shares 3 brilliant practical tips, including not pigeon holing yourself as a worker bee, taking small steps to be more courageous and how to convey that you value your contribution. Do pass on the link if it sounds like it would benefit a woman you know.

Have a wonderful summer and do get in touch if I can support you and your organisation or collaborate in the autumn. We have updated our website with the programmes, talks and workshops we deliver, so do take a look here

Best wishes
