Flexibility & hybrid working

September has been a wonderful mix of in-person and virtual coaching, training and networking. I'm really enjoying being back face-to-face supporting clients but equally excited to have kicked off a virtual modern leadership programme for a new cohort ready to realise their true potential. In a first for me, I've also delivered hybrid training and was pleased to see that it can work well for everyone with those not in the room still being part of the action. I'd love to know how your organisation is delivering learning in this new everyday, what do you find works best now?

Here are my 3 things to know this month:

  1. FTSE Women Leaders Review with Denise Wilson OBE. It was an honour to talk to Denise Wilson OBE, Chief Executive of the FTSE Women Leaders Review (formerly the Hampton-Alexander Review) about the next stage of the continued push towards gender equality. New proposals include ensuring UK companies have at least 40% female board directors and that more women are appointed to the top leadership roles. Look out for my Forbes article with Denise later this month for our joint thoughts on the most important barriers to women’s leadership that still need to be tackled. You can also follow progress on the next stage of the Review here.

  2. My 10th podcast episode: Reaching the top with a young family. In this week's Confidence Conversation podcast, I was joined by Rachel Macfarlane, Group Head of Legal at Quintet Private Bank to talk about fitting life and work together, and how she balances work and parenting. She also shares some great advice on confidence at work and dealing with imposter syndrome. Add it to your listening here - a must for any parent!

  3. Tackling menopause in the workplace. With World Menopause Day approaching on 18 October, I've been speaking to lots of organisations about menopause in the workplace and what support can be offered to women to continue to do their best work. It's a topic I'm writing about in my new book 'Don't Fix Women' and you can read my previous article on 'Tackling The Menopause Taboo in the Workplace' here. Do also get in touch if you'd like more information on how we support women managing the menopause at work through coaching.

Finally, I'm encouraging all the women in my network to participate in the #thislittlegirlisme campaign by Inspiring Girls International. 70% of girls feel more confident about their futures after hearing from female role models so join this great initiative and share your stories. You can read mine (and see little me in a tutu!) here.

Until next time,
Joy
